Dr. Catherine Dean
Senior Lecturer
Dr. Dean has been lecturing for over twenty years in various international settings. Her foundational studies in English Literature, Political Economy and Logic at University College Dublin (Ireland) provided a basis for her later studies in Philosophy and Theology (Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, Italy), which she has taught extensively. Her interest in Education has developed through her experience in working with students in higher education. The need and desire to facilitate her students’ learning led her to a self-enquiry approach to research. Through her doctoral research Dr. Dean developed her own living theory which expresses her educational values and her understanding of educational relationships. For Dr. Dean, teaching and learning should be a rewarding experience, carried out in an atmosphere of freedom, which fosters personal growth for everyone involved. Her research interests include Philosophy of Education; Freedom and Personal Growth; Action Research in Education.
