Dr. Rose Catacutan
Senior Lecturer

Dr. Maria Rosario G. Catacutan has vast teaching experience in higher education for the last twenty years. She was part of the pioneer group who started teaching in the School of Accountancy after Strathmore College merged with Kianda College and moved to the current Madaraka campus. After teaching accountancy courses for several years, she later specialized in teaching the ethics and philosophy subjects which are part of the core humanities curriculum which Strathmore University offers to its undergraduate students across all disciplines. She also teaches courses in philosophy and ethics in the School of Graduate Studies for postgraduate students enrolled in various Masters programs in the University.

Business ethics education and character development of college students have been the foci of her teaching and research in ethics and philosophy for the past several years. Lately, she expanded her research interests in understanding character development by exploring the theories of moral development and moral psychology in the field of education.

Dr. Catacutan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Accountancy from the University of the Philippines, Diliman. She later pursued a three-year postgraduate study in Humanities in Rome, Italy, and was awarded a study grant to undertake her Master’s degree in Corporate Governance at the Institute of Humanities and Business at the University of Navarre in Pamplona, Spain. She graduated with honors from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas, Manila, Philippines with a PhD in Education.
